When the Clouds Came Down to Watch

Behind every proposal is so much quiet effort from the person planning it all for the one they love. And Swiss weather has a way of making those nerves even bigger.
Frank and Anita came all the way from Australia to spend their holiday in Europe, and Frank chose Lauterbrunnen as the place to begin their new chapter together. He reached out a few days before, hoping the weather would be kind — and luckily, I was free to be there and capture it all.
We had just an hour, from 10 to 11am, to hold onto this love — the proposal, and the engagement portraits afterwards. And the weather gave me everything I'd wished for: no harsh sun, soft clouds resting in the valley, gentle light with the blue sky peeking through.
If you ever ask me what kind of light I love to photograph in, I'll tell you without hesitation: a morning exactly like this one — and the golden glow of a Swiss sunset.
Planning your own proposal in the Alps? I'd love to help you tell your story.
